Selection Procedures
When selecting materials for purchase, all materials must meet the selection policy requirements and have 2 or more positive reviews from a recognized publication (School Library Journal, Kirkus, Junior Library Guild, Entertainment Weekly, NY Public Libraries, etc).
Teachers, students, parents, and additional staff members may recommend a title to be added to the collection. The library media specialist will then check whether the title meets the policy requirements. Should the title meet these requirements, the title will be added to the next order period.
Two to three times yearly, the library media specialist will place orders for books and materials. So long as these materials are approved and meet the selection policy requirements, items will be shipped to the school directly and entered into the Destiny circulation system by the specialist. Please see the collection procedures for this information.
Technology that is ordered will be approved by the county technology committee, and must be registered at the district level (bar-codes, serial numbers, etc) and the building level. These items are overseen by the TUST (Technology User Support Technician) representative at each building.
